Analysis of Surface Plasmon Polaritons for Homogeneous and Periodic Media
Abstract:
Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are electromagnetic waves propagating at the interface between two media and are described by Maxwell's equations. The theory of modulation equations gives us a tool to generate an asymptotic approximation to such SPPs. In this talk we want to discuss different ideas and consequent difficulties of this approach for different kinds of homogeneous and periodic media and for different physical models.
